Shaandaar box office collections managed to earn a whopping Rs 13.10 crore on opening day. The film, which stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, gathered a decent crowd in the morning shows with an occupancy rate of around 35% to race towards a day 1 triumph. And this it managed despite most reviewers panning the movie.

But the good news for Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor does not end with the box office take, ‘Shaandaar’ has done so well that it has become the highest opening for both the actors!
Wait! There is more. ‘Shaandaar’ has tattered the opening day’s box office collections of superstars like Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ and ‘Gabbar Is Back’, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and Kapil Sharma’s ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’, making it the sixth highest box office opener of 2015.

‘Shaandaar’ opened well at the box office due to the Dussehra holiday across the country. The film enjoyed a good opening at major cities, including Mumbai, Delhi and others, but at some places the collection was affected as the first day show started late due to Dussehra pooja.

After a good opening day, the film is expected to hold well at the box office on day 2, i.e. on Friday. However, for that to happen the word-of-mouth boost is a must for the movie to counter the negative impact of movie reviews. There is an immense anticipation from the movie ‘Shaandaar’ which is including fans, critics and trade analysts.
‘Shaandaar’ is directed by Vikas Bahl who is still enjoying the legacy of his film ‘Queen’, which was a huge blockbuster.

The film also stars actors Sanjay Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor and also a special appearance by Karan Johar.
